Canning, NS

Vermeulen Farms began their growing their asparagus on a one acre field in 1999, the following year they expanded it to 15 acres, allowing them to complete their first harvest in 2001.To this day, they continue to harvest the same plants but now an additional 60 acres have been added to expand their production. Now it takes a team of 55 farmers to keep up with the daily harvest as asparagus grows so quickly!

Whether it's helping organizations on the frontlines of food insecurity or making early interventions possible for child and youth mental health, we are nourishing our community and building healthier tomorrows is at the heart of everything we do. We aren't just about one family, but all the different kinds of families who make up our community.
